My Poupee Girl

Do any of you play on poupeegirl?

Meet my poupee, CalaMari.
Don't you just love the tea party background? Poupee Girl November 13 2011
Haha, so this was my first time making a gif. I've always wanted to try and here I see I've made a grainy one. Not very good quality at all, but oh well. I like it enough. I am proud. Tee Hee :]

If you've never heard of the Poupee Girl game, it is a Japanese website where you can dress up your own character. In case you're wondering poupee is French for doll, so you have a virtual doll to dress up. It's fun because you can go virtual shopping for your doll. You use "ribbons" as payment and the way you get it is by playing on the site and doing certain things: Logging in, uploading pictures of your own real items, commenting on other people's items, and more. Poupeegirl is also a great way to have a virtual record of your closet.
I think it's pretty awesome and it helps me when I'm trying to save money. I can see all the good stuff I have in my closet and I can go virtual shopping without actually losing money! I also try to dress my poupee in lolita clothes since I don't get to wear lolita as often and my loli closet just isn't as big as my poupee's! Tee hee!
If you play on poupeegirl, add me as a friend and we'll collect ribbons together!
If I convinced you to play too, let me know!

September Nails

Sorry for my super lateness on this post! It's almost the end of October and I am just now posting my September nails!

Week of September 5
Have any of you watched 2NE1's Music video I am the Best? These nails were inspired by Minzy's nails in the video. Her's are much darker and don't have writing etc. I actually added it in because it looked too white to me, just too bright. The red was to darken the solid whites again. And of course they're covered in glitter!!! I'm kinda sad the thumb got dinged, but oh well. I hope to truly have the correct nail art next time.
(Sally Hansen - French White Cream and Hallucinate, Nabi - Sheer Cream and Red)

Week of September 12
My friend gave my a new polish after I told her about my hunt for an ivory colored nail polish. It turns out it was more clear and cool toned than it looked in the bottle. That whole clear problem happens to me all too many times. Kind of my fault for always wanting understated light colors. Anyways... I decided to add some stickers to the mix this time.
(Nabi-Sheer Cream, Claire's - Flower Stickers)

Week of September 19
School has been super busy and I just didn't have time to really work at a design, so I went with just a solid color. Not even an overcoat (hence the chipping). I choose brown because I thought it'd be nice for the upcoming fall weather. Although, in SF, September seems to be time for Summer weather... Haha, oh well.
(Forever 21 - Brown)

Rest of August Nails

Week of August 22
I visited a friend who recently moved to San Francisco and I got to see her nail polish collection, which she let me try! I was so excited to see that she had glitter polishes! I decided to use red so that we would match! Since school was just starting, I didn't want to overload on the glitter, so I only put it on the ring finger. I've been really liking glitter, especially black glitter!
(Yet again I cannot tell you the names of the polishes, but I'm pretty sure the brand for both was called Nabi)

Week of August 29
I call these my Incredible Hulk nails! I actually painted them for Harry Potter purposes. I knew I was going to dress up as a Slytherin Student for September first, so I wanted to do matching nails. I was actually going to do plain green, but it didn't feel like enough. I wanted to do something quick because school was so busy, so I decided to do crackle. It would have been much more Slytherin had my crackle polish been silver, but alas, I had none.
(claire's - green, Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat - Ink Splatter)

Can anybody guess why I dressed up on September 1st? :]

School has begun again

This year's school year has just begun at San Francisco State University. I haven't posted in a week and I'm so sorry for that! The beginning of the school year is always hectic isn't it? It's so busy.
Going to classes isn't the problem for now, especially since there isn't any real homework yet. It just gets so tiring to see so many people all of a sudden. Then there's the uncertainty of everything. New classrooms, new teachers, new classmates. The uncertainty of what the class and professor are like and whether I will know anybody in my classes.
Then there are the (what feels like a gazillion) organizations tabling and passing out flyers and making announcements. And to think, I'm part of a few of them. Ah, it gets fun though.
Seeing old friends I have been missing since the last semester is the best part of all. They make school fun even through all the hard work.

Sorry for my lack of a real post, I just wanted to let you know why I haven't posted in so long. I do hope that I will start posting regularly again soon, but until then I shall be settling into the school year.

Telegrams

I guess Cowboys and Aliens had some kind of promotion for free Telegrams and my boyfriend decided to send me one. It was really sweet and I liked the way he wrote it. It was as if he was from the old wild west.

I don't know much about the "Wild West" though and not much about telegrams either except that they say STOP instead of using periods. It was still pretty cute.

It came in a small manila envelope and the telegrams was just a regular, thin piece of paper, but it was printed to look like an old telegram. I'm not sure how they're really supposed to be, but I always expected telegrams to be on sturdy paper and to arrive without an envelope (and also be hand delivered, but you can't help that much these days).

*Australia Stamp! Look at that Koala!
Although the promotion is over, they seemed to have used a telegram company called Telegram Stop.
Check them out if you'd like.

I haven't watched Cowboys and Aliens. Have any of you? How was it?
I don't know if it's my kind of movie. I don't watch many Cowboy films.

Pottermore

YES! I JUST GOT MY WELCOME E-MAIL!

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, check out http://insider.pottermore.com/.

If anyone's curious, I registered on Day 2.

I was so upset this morning when my boyfriend received his Welcome e-mail. We registered at the same time and he's the one who told me to check my e-mail. I wasn't so much upset because he had it and I didn't. I was mostly upset at the fact that we didn't get to explore it at the same time, together. I just really got my hopes up. I couldn't tell him wait until I got my Welcome e-mail. He's been waiting too and I would definitely say that he's the bigger Harry Potter Fan. Without a doubt. Plus, he's going on vacation soon and won't be able to explore while he's away. I'm not upset at all anymore! Tee Hee! XD

So I leave you with this:

My trusty Harry Potter 3D Glasses! I will never stop using these.

I watched the Glee 3D Movie today(15th) with these.
**HINT** Stay until the VERY END

My Nails from the Past Few Weeks

Week of July 4
This one was my attempt at the Medival Shield. It was on all of my nails, but it just didn't look right, so I took them all off, but I couldn't bring myself to take that last one off because I had worked so hard on them. I also kind of made the sparkles gradient, but I'll try it on my whole nail next time. I still liked it enough. I took the picture a little to late in the week so the polish on my middle finger is kind of chipped.
(New York Color - Central Park, Wet n Wild - French White Creme, Wet n Wild - Hallucinate)

Week of July 11
My nails for my Harry Potter Week! Not special at all right? I was planning on painting it over with Black Crackle Nail Polish to finish off my Bellatrix Costume, but I never bought the polish in time. That whole week was rushed with my costumes because I still had to deal with my accounting class.
(Sally Hansen - Time to Shine)

Week of July 18
I'm finally wearing a super light color. I had been seeing mint everywhere and I've been wanting to try it. Personally, I think this may be a bit too light for me. I am glad I wore them for a nice sunny week this summer though.
(Sally Hansen - Mint Sorbet)
Week of July 25
My Bellatrix nails! Too bad I didn't have these for the day of! I don't know if these nails will ever get to see my costume...
(Sally Hansen - Time to Shine, Sally Hansen - Ink Splatter)

August 4
I waited to paint my nails again this time because one of my friends planned a hang out which included painting our nails. It was a super fun way to catch up with old friends, even though I'd never done it before. Haha, already 20 and I never painted my nails with friends.
Any hoo, two of my friends helped me with the polka dots because I fail at them. Most of my time went towards that one purple flower.
Sorry my nails are chipped in the photo, I didn't take the photo until the weekend...
At least now I can cross off polka-dots/stripes mix and vintage floral off my list now, but that doesn't mean they won't show up again.
(I can't name any of the polishes because they're all my friends. I know a bunch of them were Forever 21 though)
Week of August 8
My newest nails! Totally not what I originally planned. The original idea included crackle polish. It ended up looking like a blob of black. Anyways I have here, split black/silver on every other finger and the pointer and ring fingers have plain grey. The silver was made by layering a sheer silvery brownish purple color over the grey.
(Sinful Colors - Black on Black, Sally Hansen - Grey Area, Santee - Brown Speckle)

I think from now on I'll try to post all my nails from one month into one post.
I suppose August's will be quite small because two of them are already here. Oh well, Please enjoy!

BonjourHoney.etsy.com

Last May I won Julie Doll's giveaway for her handmade Shooting Star Hairpin Brooches. It arrived in a bubble mailer and the packaging was just so adorable! Just look at the lovely little bag and how it all looks together.
She even included stickers of her etsy shop and a nice little note. It felt so personal. I don't know if she always includes these things since I won them instead of purchasing them, but it really made me feel appreciated as a reader. Definitely check out her blog. She dresses in Lolita often and does a lot of themes depending on where she's going. Her fashion style is always lovely and exciting to see.
The Shooting Star is so great! It's really well made and very sturdy. I haven't gotten to wear it yet because I don't wear Lolita much at all in the summer. I'm so excited for the fall weather to come! I've had my coordinate planned for months now!

Even More Harry Potter Love

First off, here's a clearer picture of my outfit from that Wednesday along with my movie pass for that wonderful week.

Now, for the big day! This is us before leaving the house. Nice normal picture.

Now us trying to pose? Haha.

My friend with a Professor McGonagall Cosplayer.

Here is my friend and I with a Luna Cosplayer.

Now here's another Professor McGonagall Cosplayer. She was so sweet. She let us borrow some wands for the picture. I know it doesn't make sense, but I wanted to be in the picture too XD
So now, I just want to let you know how sorry I am for my inability to pose. I must work on my confidence. Also, Bellatrix and I are NOTHING alike. I am not an actress... Oh well. I just love dressing up!

More Harry Potter Love

So, I never got to finish my recap of my Harry Potter movie week. I must say, it was wonderful to see all the movies in theaters after they have already gone. Especially consecutively that way.
I must say though, that it was very different to walk around the theater that Thursday. There were so many people waiting in line to see the midnight showings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. There were even people waiting for the 3 a.m. showing. It was crazy.

So just to recap my outfits that week:
  • Day 1: Unfinished Bellatrix Costume
(Deathly Hallows Part 2 & Chamber of Secrets)
  • Day 2: Kind of Gryffindor, but mostly looked like Hufflepuff
I wore yellow tights, a black skirt, a white bodyline blouse, and a black ribbon around the collar. The ribbon was pinned together with a Gryffindor pin. If only I had a Hufflepuff one!

(Prisoner of Azkaban & Goblet of Fire
  • Day 3: Slytherin School Girl

(Order of the Phoenix & Half-Blood Prince)
  • Day 4: Full Bellatrix Costume

    (Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2)

I'm the one in the middle. Can you guess what everyone's dresses like?
Sorry the pictures are not clear and pretty dark.
Sadly I didn't get to watch the Sorcerer's Stone, but what can I do now. Oh well. I wish I could show you all pictures for every day. Stay tuned for the next post. I'll be posting the rest of my pictures from the week.

New Laptop! FINALLY!

I just got a laptop yesterday! It's an 11" so it's pretty small, but not too small. I can still see sites easily without having to scroll left and right. It's lightweight and easy to carry, perfect for travel!
It also has 7 hour battery life. My perfect little Acer. After I broke my old Acer... :[

Please readers, learn from my mistake and don't sit with your laptop close to the edge of the top bunk of a bunk bed. Watching it drop was not fun!

You'll be seeing some changes in older posts because I'll finally be able to add them and my future posts will definitely include pictures! I am so sure that will inspire me to post more! I've been thinking about it so much recently!

I'll leave you with a picture I took of some flowers my family had on display:

New Hair Cut

Sorry, I have not posted in so long! My class has been taking all my time since it will be ending in two weeks! So much studying! I am also still trying to recover from Post-Potter Depression. Haha!

Any who, I FINALLY got a hair cut 2 days ago. I have been waiting since Spring Semester ended in May! I took pictures, but again it will have to wait until I get my own laptop.

And the Update on that is that I am seriously looking to buy now. It seems as if my Laptop is not fixable :[

Any suggestions on a good inexpensive laptop for college students?

**EDIT**

Here's my new haircut! Sorry the picture is so dark!

Harry Potter Love

Sorry I have not posted in a long while! I went camping with my family for vacation. Before and after I left, I was also busy with school work! I had to do it early and then I was so lazy when I got back that I had to catch up!

Anyways, I have bought tickets to watch the Harry Potter Marathon in Theatres!
It started yesterday with the Sorcerer's Stone and the Chamber of Secrets.
Today is The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Goblet of Fire.
Wednesday is The Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince.
Thursday is The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and then Part 2 at midnight!

Yesterday was so Hectic! I originally planned to get my homework done before leaving to the theatres in my Slytherin Outfit. I woke up really late to a text from 43KixNorCal stating that I won adavanced screening tickets to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 that same night. I had to e-mail them with my information in order to accept it and be on the guest list. I felt like the wait for a response e-mail took forever and I could not concentrate on my homework! I was worried I would not be able to go because of my unfinished homework and that everything would go wrong. Because I officialy won, I whipped out my Bellatrix costume early. I was saving it for Thurday and sadly it was not finished and I did not have time to do my hair because I found out I won so unexpectedly! It went alright though and I will dress up completely on Thursday!

I wish I could show you my outfit yesterday, but I did not take my camera. I thought they would take it away because it is an advanced screening, so they are even stricter about bringing cameras into the theatre. I will try to get pictures on Thursday though! I hope to see tons of other people dressed up too!!!

I have to go soon so I can get ready for tonight! How will I dress up for tonight...

San Francisco Zoo

On Friday, July 1st, Myboyfriend and I visited the San Francisco Zoo to see "Captin America". There was announcement on the website that there would be someone dressed up as Captin America and then he would have a scevenger hunt prepared for you. Sadly, he was not there because there is was a mistake in the website. He was not going to be there until Saturday.

Oh well, we still had tons of fun!

If you are ever in the San Framcisco Area, the zoo is a pretty fun place to go. It's open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from my experience, you can definately see the entire zoo in that time!

The Children's section is so fun because you can pet and feed animals there! I did not do it though because I did not want to smell like an animal for the rest of the day.

There are certain times written around the exihbits with the words Keeper Connection. If you go to the exhibit, you can watch the zookeepers work with the animals and most of the time they will give you a speech. It's very interesting. I got to watch lions and penguins get fed!
There's also a special nocturnal exhibit to watch Aye Ayes from Madagascar. It is kinda scary because it is so dark, but once your eyes adjust you get to see what may be the most active animals in the park! They run around so much! It was much more exciting than seeing the other animals lounging around. Seeing the other animals like that made me feel sad for them to be in the zoo.

Also, this summer's special exhibit is Tarantulas. It was interesting, but so creepy! Their webs really creeped me out!

Anyways, it was a super fun, but tiring day! A bit too much walking... But what can you do? At least it was fun!

My boyfriend and I did not take many pictures of the animals at all, but tons of pictures of us and animal statues and pretending to be certain animals. Tee Hee!
**I will add the pictures later -- we used my boyfriend's camera

Being an adult?

So, my second year of college is over. Reality is getting much closer. I am so afraid of adult life. I am intimidated by the mere thought of interviews although I feel they would represent me better than a resume. I am afraid of having all these different bills to pay. I am afraid of living alone. I am afraid of having to represent myself a certain way.

I am doing very well on taking all the classes I need to graduate and I think it is possible for me to graduate in 4 years without an extra semester or year. The problem is that being a student is so fun! So many opportunities are available while in college!
  • Discouted tickets at movies, musems, and events
  • Study Abroad
  • Student Clubs and Organizations
  • Leadership Oppourtunities
  • Free help with tutoring, counseling, job searches etc.
  • SFSU Students recieve Free Anti-Virus Software *Ask me how
I can barely believe that 2 years are already over. If the next 2 years are as fast as the past, the entire experience is almost over! Although I love being a student, it is still really hard work. The future is just so daunting. I am not going to say that being a student is easier than being an adult or vice-versa. I think it is the whole idea of change and just takes getting used to.

I am afraid of being an adult, but there is still so much to look forward to!

How do you feel about the future?

Laying Awake at Night

It's already 1:48 a.m. and I'm wide awake. Every night, even after a long day, I always lay awake thinking of anything and everything. I think about tomorrow, yesterday, today. I think about school and finding a job. I think about relationships between the boyfriend, friends, and family. I think about movies and books. I think about dramas and television series. I think about clothes I have and do not have and all the ways I could put together an outfit. I think about crafts I could make and things I could sell.
And on this particular night, I am up thinking about nail designs I want to try. I bought two packs of fake nails from Daiso and it makes this feeling worse because now I do not have to wait until my current nail designs start chipping. It just makes trying out designs so much more appealing!
Designs to try out:
  • Stripes and Polka dot mix
  • Vintage Floral
  • Cherry Blossoms
  • Medival Shield
  • Gradient Colors
I'm still really new to nail art, but I am totally hooked right now. I just keep watching videos on YouTube and nail designs keep popping up on my Tumblr Dashboard!

I wish I could leave you with a picture of my paint-splatter nails I just recently removed*.
I now have a subtle shade of pink, just in case I land a job interview. If it keeps up that I don't get one, I'll just keep painting like crazy on my nails. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up when school starts. I'm really hoping that I'll have more time for myself and fashion this school year. I hate going to school wearing baggy clothes or the same combinations I use all the time. It just doesn't make my day good enough.
I know that it shouldn't matter what I look like, especially since it's just school and everyone's just as stressed out and tired as I am most of the time. I already have a boyfriend too, so it's not like I'm trying to win over other guy's attention. It's just all about self-confidence. When I feel like I look good, I act more out going and am more active. When I dress down, I rarely feel accomplished. It's really rather amazing, the difference in my atittude.

I just like the way I feel when I dress up. I feel like me.

**EDIT**
Here's my paint-splatter nails!

And Bonus! My newest and favorite ring! It's a double ring and I've been wanting one forever!

School and Lolita

In just being in college, I find myself afraid of wearing Lolita at school. I am not afraid of the way people will treat me or how they will look at me or what they will say to me. I have gone to school in Lolita and it is quite easy to do at San Francisco State. The problem is that I am no longer just taking General Education classes and have gone onto taking my major courses within Hospitality Management and Tourism under the school of business.

I am afraid of giving the wrong impression on professors and fellow students within my major. Loita is the complete opposite of business wear. These people will most likey be in the Hospitality industry and I just do not want to blow my chances at anything just because of the way I dress. I do believe that there is an appropriate time for everything and Lolita just does not cut it at school for me right now.

I just miss my Lolita clothes really. After my biggest bodyline order back in February, all I wanted to do was dress Lolita, but it just never worked out. The only place I really went out to was school where I did not want to wear lolita. I would feel like it is such a waste to just wear my clothes at home. I was also busy with school work to dress up too. I would dress up when I went out on weekends, but I go home to my parents every weekend. They know about my Lolita clothes, but I would rather just avoid the lecture everytime they see me wearing it. Summer does not work much either because I am at home with my parents and it is too hot anyways. Oh well, hopefully this can change next semester and I can stay in San Francisco a few weekends or something.

What do you think about wearing Lolita at school? Do you think I should just go for it and wear Lolita to school anyways? Is there any kind of compromise you think I can do?

Updates since March

Since my last post just updated about my blog, this post will update about my life.

School is over, but I am taking summer school at my local community college. I am taking accounting and I actually find it rather interesting. If I end up really liking it, I may change my major to accounting. I am also trying to find a summer job. I have been trying to find a food type job like at Subway or Cold Stone because it is within the Hospitality Industry, my current major.

I have been out for summer for about a month now and it has actually been pretty exciting. In just the past 2 weeks I have tried Zumba, played tonsof Just Dance 2, visited the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco for Free, watched the musical Avenue Q, and put up a lemonade stand with my cousins to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. I may have done more, but this is what comes to mind the most.

I definately recommend putting out a lemonade stand or something of a similar nature. It is fun to do with family or friends because it is good quality bonding time and you get to see who lives around the neighborhood. I definately recommend some kind of tent or shade and wearing sunblock for doing this in the summer.

Avenue Q was really interesting. The music was really catchy and they brought up lots of issues like sex, racisim, and sexuality in a very different manner. If you did not know already, Avenue Q is a musical with puppets and people kind of like Sesame Street and they teach certain lessons with pictures and song. It is definately not for kids though.

Hopfully I will be able to fully update about other fun and adventures I happen to have in the future!

How has your week been?

Sorry

I really wanted to start a new and I still only have one blog post. I'm sorry, I am so disappointed in myself.

I just got really busy with school things and then, my laptop broke right before Finals. It's been summer vacation for a month now and I still have not gotten it fixed. I have been borrowing my sister's laptop whenever she is not using it, so I have not been able to spend much time on the computer. I can only check my e-mail and social networking sites quickly and any other important business such as school and work. Since it is not my computer, I cannot upload pictures from my camera either and now the memory is full :[
I miss being able to blog, so I have decided to make blogging at least once a week if not every day a priority. Sadly, I will not be able to post any pictures until I get my own laptop. If you do not like so many words, this may not be for you then, but I will add photos later on.

Each post will probably just be about my day. Please enjoy! :D

New Blog

Hello Everyone! I used to have an old blog, which I will be leaving up at http://buhaynimari.blogspot.com. The reason why I'm starting up a new one is because I did nott feel like my old blog was what I wanted to accomplish for myself. I could have just continued on with my old blog and just went in the new direction, but I really just wanted to start fresh. In all honesty though, this blog will probably be similar, because it is still me. I'll actually be uploading old blog posts from my old blog here that I feel go with my new direction. I really want to start blogging regularly and here is what I want for my blog now:

  • It is mostly going to be a sort of random blog about myself.

  • I am going to post about my day and especially about events I attend and what not.

  • I also want to take this chance to post Outfit of the Day shots. Constructive critisim will be gladly welcomed!

  • I would also like to post my thoughts on certain subjects, these things just take up my thoughts at night sometimes and I would like to share them. I will not be doing these posts quite yet. Not untill I feel comfortable with it.

  • I also want to post about the many arts and crafts I do. Such as, jewelry, sewing, cards, or whatever I feel like making at the moment.

  • Lastly, I want to post random photographs I took. I am not a professional at all. My camera is a simple point-and-shoot. I just like to take pictures of random things I find interesting or cute.

I know this seems pretty general, so here is a little more about myself so you can have some insight on what my posts will be like:

I attend San Francisco State University. I am Pilipino-American. I am very involved with many cultural organizations at school. Just to name the ones I am most involved with: Pilipino American Colligete Endevour (PACE) and Asian Student Union (ASU). I really like cute things. When I think of cute things I think of kawaii Japanese trinkets. I am into Gothic Lolita Fashion. Although I have not really been following many Anime and Manga recently, I am still into Anime and Manga. I like to attend conventions. I have been to Fanime and Anime on Display (AOD) and I would love to attend more! I really like arts and crafts. If I could have an unlimited supply of everything at JoAnn's, I would sit in my room crafting all day, everyday.

Well, that is it for now! Thank you for reading even though I wrote too much!

**EDIT**
You can now get a glimpse at what my future posts will be like if you look at the posts before this one. They were all just moved from old blog posts and edited a little
