Yestyle

This one's on YesStyle. If you haven't heard of it, they have cute Asian fashion pieces. The website sells all types of clothes for men and women. They also have shoes, bags, accessories, and make-up. They ship internationally, so it's a perfect place to shop if you like that Asian Style. They opened up a physical store in San Francisco in September 2009. On October 14 of this year, they had a College Night! They had free drinks and cookie cake the whole night. The first 50 people to walk in got free posters. They also had drawings at certain times of the night. Here are some pictures I took from the YesStyle Blog. Here we are waiting in line for the store to open. It was probably around 5:50 p.m. and it was about to open. I'm the one wearing white shorts and a black and white plaid top. And not looking Xp In line to receive posters: Here are my friends and I with our posters. I got Wonder Girls! I love YesStyle and I spend too much time at their store in Stonestown. I should just work there! They may not want me though because I mostly window shop Xp

I didn't take a picture, but the box is now full. There's 310 crane in the box now. I finished that over the summer and hadn't updated because I kept forgetting to take a picture. Sorry! I do still have a different picture for you all now!

Did you guess right?! He's in a trash bin! Yes, that's right although he's not trash. I took the trash bin from my brother because he bought two and wasn't using this one. They were from the dollar section at target by the way. I already had a trash bin in my room as well, so I tried to think of another way of using it. Hopefully it''ll turn out alright once it's filled with many colorful cranes! Wish me luck!

Cookies

My mom bought the cutest cookie set I have ever seen and I just HAD to share it with all of you!

"Sugar Wafers: The easier, more delicious way to having or serving snacks. Perfect for ice cream. Goes well with puddings, cold and hot drinks, or with anything that needs crisp company."

"Fita Crackers: Tasty, dainty, bite-sized round crackers with a tangy flavor. Delicious with dips, beverages or just plain"

"Marie Biscuts: Real taste thrill, slightly sweetened, delicately flavored biscuits. Family favorites everywhere."

"Cream-filled Sand which: The original cream-filled sandwich. Two crisp cookies with just the right amount of cream filling. Serve with hot or cold beverages, ice cream, soft drinks."

And Sadly, there's no picture or description for the 5th cookie. This is what is says on the cookie itself though: "M Y San Cream Cracker Extra"

As the bucket said it's M.Y. San's Happy Time Jr. Assortment. I think that's the same company that makes Sky Flakes Crackers. (if you guys have heard of it, I'm unsure so please you let me know if you do)
I love how it's carousel themed and all the kids are holding their favorite cookie. There's descriptions on the bottom too!

So readers, do you buy cookie sets like this? What's your favorite cookie?

Out for a Picnic

Last Sunday my boyfriend and I went for a picnic at Golden Gate Park. It was a really nice day. It was sunny, but not too hot. We ended up parking near the baseball field, so we picnicked on the bleachers. We didn't take much time to prepare food, so we just microwaved some frozen dumplings from Trader Joe's and bought tons of sweets at the farmer's market. We ended up not finishing it xP
It was a fun day,but sadly we didn't take many pictures. Especially of food. It was mostly me running around being silly and me taking stalker model pictures of my boyfriend putting on his jacket.

Here's more pictures of me xP
Please let me know if it's too many pictures!

Outfit Rundown:

Cutsew: Yesstyle

Wicked

I went to watch Wicked in San Francisco.
I was so excited, especially since I had never been to any professional musical.
Here's what I wore:

I like to layer, so I wore my cardigan under my coat.

These shoes actually didn't come with a ribbon. They are actually a little too big, so I tied ribbon around so it wouldn't fall off. I re-tied them a gazillion times and this wasn't even the end result.

I believe this bag was handmade in the Philippines, but I'm not sure Xp

Make-Up Shot

Outfit Rundown
Coat: Michael Kors for Costco
Cardigan: Forever 21
Dress: Independent Shop in SF
Tights: Forever 21
Shoes: H&M

So what do you think?
I kind of think the ribbon made my ankles look small and made me kind of disproportional since there was so much on top. Plus, my coat was too large for me.

I just felt like being very red that day.
Wicked was completely wicked, in a good way. If you haven't watched it yet, you better try soon because it won't be playing in the Orpheum Theatre for long!

Candy Violet Wishlist

I just had to check outCandy Violet's sale items when I saw this blog post onCheap Frills.
there's so much I want. these things won't be there forever, I don't think I have time to save for it all... Plus, I have to choose between this and a BTSSB LP or a large Bodyline order.
What to do?

Well, here goes the wishlist:

I've been wanting this Paris Chic Skirt ever since I first saw it on the site. Unfortunately, I never had the money for it. Now, it's on sale for 50% off! What a discount!
I'm not much of a Sweet Lolita since I lean more towards Classic, but I find this to be a good mixture of the two that really represents me.
I'm also a big fan of Houndstooth.
I would probably buy this, but there's a little problem. They are out of this color-way in Small and Medium. I was thinking it'd be better to get it in a small, so it'd lay on my natural waist, but they're completely out of smalls!

This dress, Chemise a la Reve, is one of their newer designs, so it's not on sale. Ever since it's debut in the Fancy French Event in San Jose, I've lusted after it.
It has such a lovely romantic feel too it. It's rather different then many Lolita dresses I've seen.
I especially love the flower brooch and the pink sash. I just have such a soft spot for dusty pink shades.

Trianon Party is such a pretty dress! It's part of the Atelier Section.
I think it's the perfect party dress. It's not the natural material for Lolita. It's made out of 100% silk as opposed to the usual cotton.
I would also love to wear this out to see Musicals and the like.
Yet again, I love the dusty pink shade.

This was the first dress set I had ever laid eyes on. It is the Victorian Promenade Set.
I really like the versatility of it! The sleeves are detachable and you can tuck in the shirt or not. I'm curious as to whether the collar is detachable too. If it's not, maybe I could alter it. I like it either way though.
I also like both the black and wine color-ways.

This is the Patisserie Set! It's like a special set lucky pack type thing.
It comes with a Paris Patisserie Skirt, one random T-Shirt, and one Bolero. It's only $125! It's such a huge savings because the skirt alone is $90 and the bolero is $70, both on sale! Plus you get a shirt! It makes up a cute casual outfit and all for $125!
I've always found the skirt cute and the bolero is very versatile as well.
I like both the black and blue color-ways, but it seems that the blue one is sold out. Oh well, since I kind of like the black one better.

Lucky Packs are so awesome! This is a great value since it's pretty much $10 per shirt, which is very normal for mainstream fashion. These shirts are pretty normal themselves, but they work well for casual lolita. It'd be really awesome to get the bustier one too.
I'm really debating on getting this one. If I do, I really hope I get a bustier!

This is a Tea Set Gift Box. I would end up gifting it to myself
It's only $20. The shirt itself would be around $13. That would make the tea cup and saucer around $7.
I need a forth cup and saucer set for my whole tea set, but this would be rather fancy for the rest of the set. I can't resist though.
Plus, I'd end up using it everyday because it's so darned cute.
You can't always save the good stuff for special occasions. They need love too ^^

Lake McClure

My family went camping at Lake McClure, East of Modesto, California.
It was a pretty long drive going there, but it felt very short coming back for some reason.
Anyways, I'm unsure if it was just the time of year, but it was VERY hot. My family reserved a campsite near a pavilion with sinks etc, and it was near everything. We were near the swimming spot, playground, bathrooms with open showers, shop, and lake. It was a very easy walk to everything and the campsite was well lit near the bathrooms. It was still very easy to see all of the stars in the sky.
There weren't really any annoying bugs that bite. We didn't really have to worry about leaving the tent door open and bug spray very much. The only thing was the flies. There were so many and they were after our food!
There was also a lot of animals! The deer actually got very close. I suppose they're already used to humans. They didn't hurt any of us though, they did rummage through our garbage. There were turkeys roaming around too! My family heard them in the mornings. I also liked to hear and watch the woodpeckers. It was kind of weird to see little frogs in the bathroom though.
The swimming was alright, the swim spot didn't seem all that clean because so many people had been in it. I bet there was a ton of pee. Also, the deer use it as a watering hole and some people allowed their dogs to swim in it even though it wasn't allowed. It's a good spot for children though because it really isn't very deep. I am 5 feet tall and the water only ever reached my neck. I think the deepest part was probably 5 feet.

Overall, it was a very good experience. I give the campsite an 8/10.

My only real problems were the heat and the lack of private showers. Although... the flies were quite annoying.

My advice if you go:
  • Make sure you have shade.
  • Bring soap because like most campsites, the bathrooms don't have any.
  • Bring some sort of cover for yourself to shower with. Maybe a gigantic umbrella or some kind of portable shower curtain.
  • Bring some kind of toy or floaty to play with in the water to make it more fun.
  • Let friends and family know before you leave that you may have trouble contacting each other because of the lack of signal. Verizon seemed to work better than AT&T.

Bucket List

For those of you who haven't heard the term yet. A bucket list is a list of things a person wants to do before they "kick the bucket" meaning die. It may be a little nicer to say wishlist though.... maybe I'll keep to that instead.
Here are just a few things on my list:
  • Learn another language
  • Wear an outfit i completely made and designed myself
  • Paint a room
  • Take a dancing class
  • Go to a zoo
  • Go to a petting zoo
  • Own my own business
  • Wear a dress everyday for a week
  • Throw a tea party and wear white cotton gloves with lace around the wrists
  • Wear a complete Lolita outfit
  • Go thrift shopping
  • Eat a whole ring pop
  • Go camping indoors
  • Make a Bento
  • Have a real picnic
  • Get on Television or some other form of media with a large audience
  • Visit the 7 wonders of the world
  • Travel to at least 2 countries from every continent except for Australia because that's impossible (so I have to go to Australia twice!)
  • Have a Lolita wardrobe large enough to wear Lolita daily
  • Wear a complete Gothic Lolita outfit
  • Wear a complete Pirate and Sailor themed Lolita outfit
  • Wear Lolita daily for at least a month

1000 Cranes

It's Thursday now and as you know I've recently decided to go for it and make 1000 cranes. I just started this past Sunday though. As you can see in the picture, I've been keeping them in a shoe box. This won't last for long though. I'm not even at 100 yet and the box is filling up. Anyone have ideas for crane storage?
I'm not sure what I'll wish for yet, but hopefully I'll figure it out before I reach 1000. It will take quite a while. If I don't figure it out before then, I won't mind. I'll be happy in the accomplishment. I'll be able to say, "Yeah! I did that!".

Nail Art

Lately, I have been getting into nail art. I feel that my first try was a success! I first tried on July 8th and this was the result:

I've been trying a couple of other things like french tips and stencils. The stencils didn't work out at all and I just need a little more work at french tips to make them even on each nail. I also need a little work at making dot flowers.
I've been wanting more practice, so I asked my cousin if I could give her a mani-pedi today.
I didn't take a picture of everything, so I'll leave you with this picture.

*Photo has a link to the video I followed to achieve the design.

Sanrio Grab Bag!

Today I went to the mall and finally stopped by Sanrio Surprizes! I've been wanting to get a grab bag really badly lately. It's because everyone's been posting their Meta LPs on EGL. I really wanted to get one, but I was nervous about the sizing and customs. Oh well. I wanted to join in on the fun of a LP, so I brought a Sanrio Grab Bag because it's as close as I can get. I thought, "Who knows? I could possibly get something loliable!". Well... Here it is!

YES! It was ONLY $6.50! And now......

The Grab Bag and all of it's contents!

I got a pink bag that seems to be for a bento box. I've been seeing tons of cute bento boxes in sanrio lately, so I think that's what it's for. I don't know what I'm going to use it for yet. Hopefully one of my bento boxes will fit in it. AND look cute in it ;]

I also got a pack of paper bags! I suppose I can also use them to carry lunch. I'm leaning more towards using them to pack gifts into. Good idea, yes?

It comes in white and the classic brown paper bag color xP

I also got a pack of 20 15cm x 15 cm origami sheets. These sheets have inspired me to start up on 1000 cranes. You'll be seeing the rest of the sheet designs in the future. They'll be in crane form!

Last, but definitely not least... PENS! I got 3 pens! 1 red, 1 purple, and 1 blue! They write in the color of the case! This is awesome because I've been trying to get myself to buy some pretty pens. Now, I don't have to look anymore!

Pretty good for $6.50, don't cha agree?

Sewing a Lolita Dress!

Okay, so I haven't actually sewn one yet...
I'm kinda too scared to make a skirt without an elastic band. I'd be completely utterly sad if I put in all the hard work, only for it not to fit. I decided to practice first by working with fabric scrapes. I obviously couldn't make a full sized lolita dress with small pieces of fabric, so I made a tiny version. I've always read that the simplest way to make a JSK or Dress is to make a rectangle skirt and connect it to a bodice of your choice. I just wanted to see how pieces fit together, so I hand-gathered a tiny rectangle into a skirt and made a tiny tube to be a pretend bodice. I wanted to make straps, but it was way too tiny for me to turn inside out.
Without further a-do, here's my creation:

Yes, it is tiny and looks like the 4th of July. I almost want to say I took inspiration from AP's Frill Marine, but I didn't. It does make me think of it though.

What I learned:
Always think before you sew, so you don't end up taking out the seam ripper.
Always remember seam allowance.
Then, there's also a bit of zipper allowance.
But never put too much allowance! You don't want to end up with something too big!

Valentine's Day

My Boyfriend took me out for a Valentine's Date! EXCEPT! IT wasn't Valentine's. He took me out on the 12th because he had to go back home to spend the 14th with his mother for her birthday. He's such a sweetie.

He gave me red tulips ( I have ALWAYS wanted red tulips for Valentine's Day) and a new dress in the morning which I wore out. He totally lied to me the day before in order to surprise me. Tried to make me think we wouldn't do any Valentine's stuff until a week or so after.

He took me to the CROWN & CRUMPET!!!! I've wanted to go there ever since I first visited Ghirardelli Square and laid my eyes on the cutee, super pink, tea shop. Sadly, I couldn't go that day because it was a short visit.

Picturees of thee day:

YAY! It's OPEN!!!

The place looked so cute and pretty overall. Pictures can't do justice to the feeling you get being inside and seeing everything!

The entire shop was decorated, including the tables. This was just mine. Every table was unique, just like everything in the shop.

Where did all the food and tea go?!?! We filled our tummys! xD
